Campaigning

ACV's
Yet again, there ws heated discussion about what approach - if any - should be taken in respect of ACV applications. Rod mentioned that Bristol and District approach to ACV's may alter as some pubs have reacted negatively to ACV's being proposed for their pubs. [post-meeting addendum: look here for some just-published CAMRA benefits to licencees (but no mention of potential pitfalls, nor how to address them)]
A campaign against South Gloucestershire council was also discussed due to a perception (although no figures were shared) that they do not approve many ACV applications.

Pub Of The Year
Andrew to become Severn Vale POTY co-ordinator and propose approach to Bristol and District branch.

Good Beer Guide Surveying
4 pubs in SV area + two outside the area to be surveyed by end of January at the request of Bristol and District branch.
Martin to send forms to those members who will perform the surveys.

Beer Scoring
Martin (again) urged members to score beers.
An issue was raised with pub scoring in WhatPub in that members cannot access or use the score data and therefore are reluctant (or refuse) to score beers as they derive no direct benefit. [It was mooted that WhatPub should display pub score aggregates to logged-in CAMRA members to benefit members' choice of pub]

Membership

Member numbers confirmed as 96 including 10 new members since October 2015. Although the increase is welcome, it's not known why this blip has occurred, and whether the October Meet & Greet at the Wheatsheaf, Thornbury may have played a role

New member welcome letter to be reviewed by Andrew. Martin has propsed to Andy Shaw at CAMRA HQ IT that the next release of the comms tool be enhanced to facilitate automated emails, with pre-defined content, be sent at a configured frequency to a configured set of recipients: this would allow an automated welcome email to be sent to new members in the last month.
